Besides the the madness of the last two years of seeing the most corrupt administration in the history of the United States rape and pillage the country and pretty much the world, this vile administration's actions ultimately resulted in sending tens of millions of voters to the polls on Nov 3rd to take back democracy and vote out the repugnant wannabe fascist regime that is polluting the congress, many of the states, and to strip the power of Jeffrey Epstein's special friend that's shitting all over the Oval Office. Voters fought back with full force. The result: Republicans LOST majority and minority power in ALL of congress! The whole of congress was flipped to all Democrats. A lot of history was made. A lot of her-story was made! They call it the Blue Tsunami!
This election put 116 women in House seats, seven women in the Senate and nine new women in the governors’ mansions." Here's the run down of historical firsts via TheWrap:
~The first LATINA governor in Texas: Gina Hinojosa
~The first Black woman governor in Keisha Lance Bottoms in Georgia
~The first Native American woman governor, Deb Haaland in New Mexico
~The first Native American woman elected to the U.S. Senate, Minnesota’s Peggy Flanagan
"It is a stunning reversal for women who have endured backsliding to their rights, the reversal of DEI protections and public indignities in the backlash to #MeToo and rise of Trump 2.0."
"Who could not take pride in Ohio governor Amy Acton’s decisive win after her opponent Vivek Ramaswamy so shamefully mocked her childhood rape with his ad featuring her estranged mother?
Whose heart didn’t swell a little when newly elected Texas governor Gina Hinojosa brought her son to the stage during her acceptance speech and told him he and his brother were the reason she ran in the first place?" As a latina and a staunch dispiser of racist bootlicking Greg Abbott, the satisfaction of seeing Abbott's pale derriere get booted by a high heel from a relatively unknown latina without a lot of fund backers was a moment of poetic justice perfection. Adios MF! And don't let the door hit you on the way out!
"What happened? Actions have consequences, and it’s heartening to see that women candidates refused to be deterred by the drive to push them down with the loss of abortion rights in the Supreme Court in 2022 and bearing the brunt of economic hardship in this second Trump administration, along with daily injuries — like calling a woman journalist “Piggy” or a meme stuffing CNN’s Kaitlin Collins in a trash bin."
"It is a stunning reminder that things don’t stay the same. That actions beget reactions. And also, that you cannot permanently put women back in another century. Women will stand up for themselves, claim their rights and assert their abilities. That proved true in historic fashion on Election Night."
